Zondervan

Zondervan, a division of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, is launching a new YA imprint called Blink.  Unlike many of Zondervan’s books, the Blink titles are for the general trade market vs. the Christian market.  Says Chriscynethia Floyd, Zondervan VP of marketing, “These would be no different from other YA titles published by HarperCollins . . . These will be hopeful books.”  She also said that the books will present rea

ders with both moral and ethical standards.

Zondervan will continue to publish roughly 6-8 Christian YA titles/year.

Jacque Alberta will acquire and editor for both imprints.

Blink’s debut list, scheduled for  fall 2013, includes:

  • The fantasy romance Doon by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon
  • Remnants, a dystopian fiction title, by Lisa T. Bergren
  • Merlin’s Shadow, the second in a series by Robert Treskillard and is based on the myths of King Arthur’s Court
I have to admit that I don’t completely understand why they are publishing non-Christian fiction within a new Zondervan imprint, but assume it is an attempt to increase their readership.  That said, I tend to like HarperCollins fiction so I’ll be waiting for these to hit the shelves.
