Life-sized Pop ups, the Mobile Office

I’m sure you already realize that pop-ups fascinate me.  Here is one that is just super cool — a life-sized pop up office.   I wonder if they could make me a life-sized pop up dining room table.  That way I could collapse it when not in use and it wouldn’t be a clutter magnet!

Ok, it is no secret big or small that I LOVE pop-up books.  Love them.  Am fascinated by them.

So I owe a special thank you to PopUps! for bringing this video on pop-up books are made to my attention.  Totally amazing.

Doesn’t it make you want to get out a X-acto knife and some card stock?

Interview with Matthew Reinhart

I’ll admit it — I did a little happy dance when I found this interview with Matthew Reinhart  posted on the blog Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast.

Pop-up books, especially those by Reinhart and Sabuda, are one of my guilty pleasures although I’m always reluctant to splurge on them for myself.  So when I got to the part about upcoming books I did a great big, huge happy dance and e-mailed the URL to my son.  I see a gift for him and a gift for his dad in the future as well as lot’s of guilt free pop up fun for me.

Are all writers as enamored of pop-ups as I am?

Give Thanks for Paper Engineering

Paper engineering fascinates me.  I’ve even managed a couple of simple pieces.

By far my favorite paper engineer is Robert Sabuda.   If you ever get the chance to hear him speak in person, take it!   Until you have that opportunity, check out this video.  You’ll have to copy and paste the URL since I can’t embed a Wall Street Journal video.  Just watching this makes me want to run down to Main Street Books and get one of his books!

Then I found this awesome trailer on the blog of  agent Janet Reid .  Pop-up style art finds stop motion video.  Awesome!  If they’re doing this kind of work in New Zealand to support their authors, I may be packing my bags!
