Off Book with Matthew Reinhart: Book Art

If you’ve been visiting my blog for any time, you know I’m absolutely fascinated by pop ups and especially the work of both Matthew Reinhart and Robert Sabuda. Truly Amazing Stuff.

This means, of course, that any time I see either of their names, I stop and read which lead me to a new series — Off Book by PBS.  As described by PBS:  Off Book is a web-original series from PBS Arts that explores cutting edge arts and the artists that make it. Episodes range from video games to typography, internet memes to steampunk culture.  How fitting then that they did an episode on book art.  And can you guess who the lead artist was?

Check it out here.

Interview with Matthew Reinhart

I’ll admit it — I did a little happy dance when I found this interview with Matthew Reinhart  posted on the blog Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast.

Pop-up books, especially those by Reinhart and Sabuda, are one of my guilty pleasures although I’m always reluctant to splurge on them for myself.  So when I got to the part about upcoming books I did a great big, huge happy dance and e-mailed the URL to my son.  I see a gift for him and a gift for his dad in the future as well as lot’s of guilt free pop up fun for me.

Are all writers as enamored of pop-ups as I am?
