Library Con Live: Free One Day Virtual Event

LibraryCon Live! | Virtual Conference November 7, 2018If you are into graphic novels, science fiction, fantasy or other speculative fiction, consider registering for this free event.  As described by Library Journal and School Library Journal, “We’re excited to offer a day-long celebration of fandom-beloved stories and characters, from mind-bending speculative fiction to innovative comics and graphic novels. You’ll also learn from librarians and industry insiders on how to plan and host your own Comic Con-style event.”

Last year’s even was one of the best I’ve ever participated in and I’m including both virtual and in-person events.  If it is like last year’s event, it will be geared toward librarians but there will be authors and illustrators discussing how they create their work.  The sessions were packed with information. I don’t see a schedule of speakers yet but their sponsors include: Andrews McMeel Publishing, Archie Comics, Boom Studios, Dark Horse Comics, DC, Quirk Books, and Penguin Random House.

There were also a ton of give aways.  These items included graphic novel samples, entire graphic novels, teacher guides, publishers catalogs and more in PDF format.  Honestly, I’m still going back to this information almost a year later.

Not free on November 6th?  Don’t worry about it.  The sessions are all recorded and will remain available for some time – this isn’t like some events which are only up for three days or limit the number of times that you can view them.   Okay, I just spotted the info.  The sessions will remain up for three months.

Last year, this event was far better than any of the webinars that I’ve paid to attend.  And, have I mentioned that this event is free?  You heard me – FREE.  In addition to zero cost to attend it is virtual so there are no travel costs.  What are you waiting for?  Register now!
