More News in Publishing: ePals buys Carus

Fingers crossed for Cricket and the other Carus magazines.

As if the news about Amazon and Marshall Cavendish wasn’t enough (see yesterday’s post), we also have news that ePals Corporation, a digital platform, has purchased Carus in order to move into home subscription.

Unlike Amazon, which only purchased part of Marshall Cavendish, ePal apparently purchased Carus in its entirety.  This includes the well-known bug magazines, the Cobblestone educational magazines and the book group.

Wow.

Good thing or bad thing?  At this point, who knows.

If they continue to publish the magazines and improve the cash flow (ie pay the authors on time), it will definitely fall into the good thing category.

But we just won’t know for a while.
