Outstanding Science Trade books

Each year, the National Science Teacher’s Association puts together a list of Outstanding Science Trade Books.  Check out their 2012 list, ie books published in 2011.

What did I find interesting about this list?

Not all of the books are from huge publishers.  Peachtree is strongly represented.

Not all of the books are nonfiction.  Michael Vey by Richard Paul Evans is science fiction and includes “sound science.”

Not all of the nonfiction is strictly science.  Deadly by Julie Chibarro is described as biographical.

Be sure to check out the full list (see link above) for some great science reading and also to find gift ideas for the young readers on your Christmas shopping list.
