How do you plan to celebrate International Book Giving Day? I just so happen to have a critique group meeting that night which is a tiny bit inconvenient because it is also Valentine’s Day.
But what better way to celebrate LOVE then by giving the various members of your family new books? That is one of the suggestions at their site. They also recommend leaving a book in a waiting room or lobby as well as making a donation of books that your children are too old to enjoy.
I’m afraid the last suggestion is a bit of a bust in this house. Since I write for kids, getting rid of books is a three fold process.
- He has to decide he doesn’t want it.
- He has to decide he doesn’t want me to keep it in my office.
- I have to decide I don’t want it.
Special thanks to Mia, the Pragmatic Mom, for bringing this celebration to my attention. We certainly don’t need more candy in the house but I’m certain that we definitely need a few more books.

A wonderful way to promote reading and clean the house at the same time! I love it!

You better believe it. I will be at critique group next week with three boxes of galleys to share.
